ST RUMONS CROSS – Medieval cross

A most unusual medieval cross, previously robbed as building foundation secured at the Rose Cottage Tavern during 1943 in an effort to survive the world war, features horizontal limbs that are slightly unbalanced in length and width; the shaft has entasis suggesting an unfathomable perhaps artistic organic intention such as that of Venus of Willendorf (24,000 – 22,000 BC).
